MS, OTR/L, IBCLC
An Alaskan by heart, Tiffany, was born in Homer and graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She pursued her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. After graduating in 2008, she briefly worked in acute care at Providence hospital before diving into pediatrics as a primary area of practice. Tiffany opened Playful Learning Pediatric Therapy, LLC (PLPT), with her husband in 2012.
Tiffany has an extensive background working with a variety of children, from older children with a variety of diagnoses to newborns with feeding difficulties. Over the past five years, Tiffany has focused her practice on the pre-crawling infant. She received her International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2019. Tiffany specializes in newborns with oral function difficulties, including tongue tie, cranial nerve difficulties, and general challenges with breast and/or bottle-feeding. She provides pre and post frenectomy care for optimal outcomes related to tongue tie function and release.
Additionally, Tiffany has extensive experience with general developmental delays, neurological conditions, as well as torticollis. Tiffany is also trained in the TummyTime™ Method, infant craniosacral therapy, and the Test of Infant Motor Performance (TIMP). She has a high interest in cranial facial development and airway function as it affects optimal development. In the fall of 2020, she started course work on Myofunctional Therapy through the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (AOMT).
When Tiffany is not treating or doing administrative work for PLPT, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two children. Hadley was born just before opening PLPT in 2012, and Harrison was her surprise baby in 2015. Both Hadley and Harrison have had difficulties with oral motor function and tongue tie, which is why Tiffany focuses on this area of practice. She spends most of her free time in Alaska at her cabin in Homer with her family, where they enjoy the wildflowers, beachcombing, fishing, and watching the sunset.
