Available for evaluations and therapy sessions

As an occupational and physical therapy clinic, we’re always available for evaluations and child therapy sessions.

Pediatric Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists help children participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations). We help children with special needs to participate fully in school and social situations, and overall lead a happier, healthier and more meaningful life. Occupational therapy services typically include:

  • an individualized evaluation, during which the parents or guardians and occupational therapist determine the child’s goals,
  • customized intervention to improve the child’s ability to perform daily activities and reach the goals, and
  • an outcomes evaluation to ensure that the goals are being met and/or make changes to the intervention plan.

Occupational therapy services may include recommendations for adaptive equipment and training in its use, and guidance and education for parents and caregivers. Occupational therapy practitioners have a holistic perspective, in which the focus is on adapting the environment to fit the child, and the child is an integral part of the therapy team.

  • Occupational Therapists

As with all our staff, our Occupational Therapists are highly trained and certified in their field and participate in continuing education, keeping abreast of new developments in therapeutic techniques to assist children with special needs or development challenges.

Pediatric Physical Therapy

Developmental delays, genetic disorders, injuries or other circumstances may impede your child’s strength, range of motion and coordination. For these reasons physicians often recommend Physical Therapy for the child. Our Physical Therapists are here to evaluate your child, create a comprehensive treatment plan to address any concerns and carry out therapy.

Through developmental activities, strength and balance exercises, stretches, adaptive play, massage and other physical therapy techniques, we’ll encourage improvements in your child’s movement and ability to accomplish daily activities. Our pediatric therapists aim to improve your child’s physical well-being, limit any pain or discomfort as a result of physical problems, and educate parents to better assist the child at home.

For our staff, there’s nothing better than seeing a child reach his or her goals and master new skills and abilities.

  • Physical Therapists

The staff at Playful Learning is absolutely amazing. They go above and beyond to help in any way possible. My son has been going there for three years and is a completely different kid from when he first started because of all their hard work and support. They care about the kids and cheer on their accomplishments with as much pride as you do. ~Christy Taylor

“I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for all that you have done to help our three boys and our family. I really did not know what to expect and came away amazed and grateful. Every single member of your staff cared for all three of our boys as if they were their own child. I could sense the love and genuine concern. Each week you had the boys working on something different, something that was uniquely tailored to their needs. I am so grateful for the effort, care, and love that went into their treatment. I highly recommend Playful Learning Pediatric Therapy. They will make a difference in your child’s daily life and development.” ~Ami Shafran

“Playful learning has encouraged my son to have a great sense of adventure. The atmosphere and therapists were very welcoming and understanding of his rare syndrome. Tiffany Johnson, the director, was very knowledgeable of finding fun ways to work on strengthening his weaknesses. My son hated being on his tummy, and ever since we went to Playful Learning to find ways to encourage tummy time, he is now tolerating it 100% of the time. He loves to explore on his tummy now, and we are finding ways to encourage mobility.

Even though our time was cut short [due to moving], the staff made the transition for us smooth and even recommended places in our area for our son to continue physical and occupational therapy.” ~Happy Parent

“Our son had a difficult time with feeding and he was G-Tube dependent. By going to Playful Learning and working with Tiffany we were able to encourage bottle feeding. The atmosphere was great and even allowed me to be included so I knew how to work with his feeds at home. Her encouragement and patience has taught my son to be less G-Tube dependent. He now eats orally with every feed. I highly recommend Playful Learning to any child that’s in need.” ~Happy Parent

“We started services at Playful Learning two years ago for both of our sons and couldn’t be more pleased with the services provided. Both of our boys have made huge strides that I doubt would have been accomplished without the staff at PLPT. Victoria is always incredibly accommodating when it comes to adding or changing an appointment as well as ensuring that my boys receive the therapy they needed in order to see progress. The staff work consistently with my guys to help identify their needs and work towards making progress in those areas. In addition to seeing amazing progress, can I just say that the kids LOVE going to PLPT. They play and work hard! The staff treats us like family and we just love them! I can highly recommend their services without reservation.” ~Terri Bubnar
