Pediatric Occupational Therapy

Pediatric Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists help children participate in the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of everyday activities (occupations). We help children with special needs to participate fully in school and social situations and overall lead a happier, healthier, and more meaningful life. Occupational therapy services typically include:

  • an individualized evaluation, during which the parents or guardians and occupational therapist determine the child’s goals,
  • customized intervention to improve the child’s ability to perform daily activities and reach the goals, and
  • an outcomes evaluation to ensure that the goals are being met and/or make changes to the intervention plan.

Occupational therapy services may include recommendations for adaptive equipment and training in its use, and guidance and education for parents and caregivers. Occupational therapy practitioners have a holistic perspective, in which the focus is on adapting the environment to fit the child, and the child is an integral part of the therapy team.

  • Occupational Therapists

As with all our staff, our Occupational Therapists are highly trained and certified in their field and participate in continuing education, keeping abreast of new developments in therapeutic techniques to assist children with special needs or development challenges.

Pediatric Physical Therapy in Eagle River, Palmer, and Wasilla

Pediatric Physical Therapy

Developmental delays, genetic disorders, injuries, or other circumstances may impede your child’s strength, range of motion, and coordination. For these reasons physicians often recommend Physical Therapy for children. Our Physical Therapists are here to evaluate your child, create a comprehensive treatment plan to address any concerns, and carry out therapy.

Through developmental activities, strength and balance exercises, stretches, adaptive play, massage, and other physical therapy techniques, we’ll encourage improvements in your child’s movement and ability to accomplish daily activities. Our pediatric therapists aim to improve your child’s physical well-being, limit any pain or discomfort as a result of physical problems, and educate parents to better assist the child at home.

For our staff, there’s nothing better than seeing a child reach his or her goals and master new skills and abilities.

Pediatric Speech Therapy in Eagle River and Palmer Clinics

Pediatric Speech Therapy

Speech-language pathology services are now offered in our Eagle River and Palmer locations.

Our speech therapists work with children and young adults with various communication difficulties and speech disorders. Speech therapy works on communication challenges, both expressively and receptively, that cause children to struggle with verbal interaction.

Our therapists are licensed speech-language pathologists with the specialized skills to treat speech and language disorders and establish their causes, prevention, and treatment. Our speech therapists can work with children of all ages, focusing on age-appropriate speech and communication milestones.

We offer personalized therapy for speech and language disorders, including articulation, language, and pragmatic social deficits. Our practice provides a fun and effective learning atmosphere through the integration of creative therapy methods, including, but not limited to, the use of music, books, sign language, play, and take-home activities.

In addition, our speech therapists help our patients practice communicating in social situations by helping them organize their thoughts during conversation and learn how to utilize necessary problem-solving skills during interactions.

In some cases, our therapists are trained to help provide and train our patients and caregivers using augmented and alternative communication devices.

My son began OT about a year ago and everything has gone great. Miss Emily greets our family with a huge smile every week, and we look forward to each visit which are both helpful and made fun for my little guy. All the staff is friendly and definitely recommend them for your therapy sessions.

My infant daughter has been going for over a year now and we have nothing but great things to say about Playful Learning. They are very accommodating and try their best to make sure we are taken care of!

The front desk has always been so helpful with any schedule changes we have needed. And the speech therapist has been amazing with our child and has helped him come so far!!!! Absolutely love them!

The staff of Playful Learning in Palmer have been nothing but absolutely wonderful, helping and, most importantly: EFFECTIVE in helping our child and his developmental needs! They are great with communicating appointment reminders, updates to any changes as soon as they have their information, and the overall progress of the child’s development in the programs. Definitely recommend them!

My son has been receiving speech therapy at Playful Learning for almost a year now. I have nothing but a positive experience. At his year evaluation, his improvement has surpassed all our expectations. He is excited to go to therapy every session. I really feel like we are all working together to reach his goals. We feel so safe and happy he is in their care.

My Granddaughter has been receiving physical therapy and occupational therapy from Playful Learning for a little over a year now. I’m not sure what we would have done without them. They have done amazing things for my granddaughter. The staff is very knowledgeable, kind, and understanding. The staff always has goal oriented activities for my granddaughter along with suggestions for things to work on at home. Not only do they work with goal oriented activities but they make it fun for a 2 year old! My granddaughter gets excited when we get to the building and wants to run to their office. The facility, waiting room, all of the equipment, and toys are also extremely clean!!
